FIR says some officials were in regular touch with him

Meat exporter Moin Akhtar Qureshi, who is being probed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED), had allegedly taken the help of several public servants to get a contract for running lounge services at Terminal-3 in the IGI Airport here. However, the permission was not granted because of Intelligence Bureau observations.

According to the CBI FIR, which comprises a note on the Enforcement Directorate’s findings, Qureshi — through his company India Premier Services Pvt. Ltd. — had applied for getting the concession agreement from Delhi International Airport Ltd. (DIAL). For security clearances, permission of various government agencies was a must.

The Directorate, on analysing the BBM messages of the accused and interceptions, found that certain government officials were allegedly in regular touch with Qureshi and some officials directly dealing with the issue were allegedly tipping him off on file movements.

“Other public servants not connected with the case were persuading the officers in a mala fide way to give permission. Some conversations have reference to the facilitation fee changing hands. However, the permission was not granted due to observations by Intelligence Bureau,” alleges the ED note.

Several conversations

Stating that there were many other conversations and BBM messages between Qureshi and accused persons in various cases, and also with those who sought undue favours, the Directorate alleged that “there are references that he has been regularly sending gifts to certain government officials, who obtained illegal gratification or pecuniary advantage either themselves or through their kith and kin”.

The ED alleged that Qureshi collected huge amounts of money collected in connivance with certain public servants and had acquired immovable assets in Dubai, London, New York and Singapore.
