Peak power demand in Delhi touched 6,011 MW for the first time this year, on Wednesday.

With rising temperature, the amount of power consumed is also expected to rise. Electricity discom, BSES, has estimated that the peak power will break earlier records and touch 7,400 MW this season.

To meet the rising demand, BSES said, it has made a capital expenditure of up to ₹800 crore this year and ramped up the network capacity by 750 Mega Volt AMP.

The discom also uses “advanced statistical forecasting models, combined with state-of-the-art weather forecasting solutions, including Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning to meet power demand, it said in a statement.
