Arrested under charges of inciting communal violence

Aam Aadmi Party spokesperson Dilip Pandey and two party workers were arrested on Friday for putting up posters appealing to Muslims in the city to protest outside the residence of three Congress MLAs, who are reportedly willing to support a Bharatiya Janata Party government in Delhi.

Four other party workers were arrested under similar charges on Thursday, the police said.

They said so far seven party workers have been arrested under charges of inciting communal violence. “Dilip Pandey and other party workers were arrested on Friday after detailed interrogation,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-East), P. Karunakaran said.

‘Gherao Congress leaders’

Posters appealing to Muslims to gherao three Congress legislators – Mateen Ahmed, Mohammed Asif and Hasan Ahmed – appeared in different parts of the city during the past two days.

Political circles in the city has been abuzz with speculation of six out of the eight Congress MLAs willing to support a BJP government to avoid fresh Assembly polls.
