In compliance with the National Green Tribunal order, the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) has opened a Facebook account and also launched a helpline on WhatsApp, where the public can register complaints of any polluting activities, besides burning of waste.
The Facebook account and the DPCC helpline has been opened after the NGT bench, headed by Justice Swatanter Kumar, directed it and the Delhi Government to create a web portal where the public can upload pictures of any such violation.
The Delhi Government on Friday said the DPCC has started a Facebook page called Delhi Pollution Control Committee. The complaints will be forwarded to the local bodies concerned or the Delhi Police for appropriate redressal.
In compliance of another NGT order against burning of plastic waste or unauthorised handling of plastic waste, the Government had issued public advertisements
Further, letters have also been sent to the Delhi Development Authority, municipal corporations of Delhi, NDMC, Delhi Cantonment Board, Delhi Police, Public Works Department, and Delhi Parks and Gardens Society for complying with the NGT order. Inspection teams constituted by the DPCC visited 58 locations in the city on December 30, and January 6 and 8 to detect and prevent burning of leaves, plastics and garbage in the open.
