Although Delhi Chief Minister-designate Arvind Kejriwal has decided not to accept Z-plus category protection, the Delhi Police will try to convince him, stating that he is entitled to security cover as per the protocol.

“We have not been informed about it so far. However, we have taken a principled stand on the issue. Mr. Kejriwal will not accept any security cover for himself. In fact, he was not accompanied by any escort vehicle when he went to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi today [on Thursday],” said an Aam Aadmi Party office-bearer.

However, a Delhi Police officer said: “On several occasions, he has been attacked in the past. It is a matter of grave concern. As per the protocol for a Chief Minister, we are required to make arrangements for his personal security.”
