Police seek complaint from U.S. travel blogger

She had alleged sexual harassment

The Delhi Police have contacted the U.S. embassy after an American travel video blogger alleged sexual harassment at a hotel in the Paharganj area of Delhi during her visit around two months ago.

The Delhi Police have sent an e-mail to the U.S. Embassy, requesting them to ask the woman to file a written complaint with regard to the incident that took place during her visit. The Delhi police said that they had identified the hotel in Paharganj.

An 18-minute video, ‘This Happened In India/Sexual Assault’, uploaded by the tourist on social media had attracted over 3 lakh views.

“We have requested the U.S. embassy to ask the woman to give a written complaint against the hotel. We have provided the e-mail address of the Delhi police to the U.S. embassy officials. The embassy officials have assured us that they have contacted the woman and provided her the e-mail address to register a complaint against the hotel staff,” said a senior police official.

The police said on the basis of the woman’s passport number, they have identified the hotel. “We have contacted the hotel and the staff member. The management said the accused staff has been terminated from his job. They are ready to assist the police in investigation,” added the officer.
