The Delhi High Court on Tuesday sought response from the city police on a petition seeking action against alleged sex rackets going on in the Capital under the garb of massage parlours and spas.
A Bench of Chief Justice Rajendra Menon and Justice V. Kameswar Rao asked the city police and Delhi government to file response on the plea and listed the case for further hearing on November 27.
‘Immoral trafficking’
The petition, filed by Ateet Bansal through his counsel Abhishek Yadav and Mishika Singh, claimed that “immoral trafficking of girls for the purpose of running illegal sex rackets has become a common occurrence in the Capital”.
The petition said that “most of these rackets are running under the garb of massage parlours, high-class model escort services in various hotels around Delhi-NCR, with young girls and women working in these parlours who have mostly been travelling from countries like Thailand and Russia”.
When Mr. Bansal enquired about information on massage parlours, he received various photographs through WhatsApp of girls involved in flesh trade.
The petition claimed that the person providing the information asked Mr. Bansal to meet at Nehru Place.
It further said that “unknown person” demanded ₹12,000 on the pretext of making him meet the girls.
“However, when the petitioner reached the said address, he was mercilessly beaten by many unknown people present there,” the plea said.
It said that Mr. Bansal complained to the police, but nobody arrived at the site.
He further said that repeated complaint to the authorities have not yielded any positive action till date.
“The police, even after repeated tip-offs, has been unable to take any action against the offenders,” the petitioner said.
