Pistols found concealed in ghee cans; 2 arrested

Duo used to sell firearms in NCR
Two men have been arrested for carrying arms in ghee cans, the police said on Thursday.
DCP (Special Cell) Pramod Singh Kushwah said Jitender alias Jeetu (25) from Madhya Pradesh and Raj Bahadur (30) from Uttar Pradesh were arrested from Ghazipur on September 23 following a tip-off.
During a search, two plastic cans of ghee were recovered from the car. Under a thick layer of ghee, 26 pistols of .32 bore calibre with magazines wrapped with polythenes and tied with cotton strings were found, the police said.
The accused were procuring weapons from Madhya Pradesh and selling them to receivers in Etawah, Gwalior and Dholpur. This gang used to receive pistols of .32 bore calibres at a rate of ₹8,000-12,000 per piece depending upon the quality and used to sell it in NCR at ₹25,000-30,000 per piece, the police added.
