Partially burnt, headless body found

February 12, 2012 12:28 pm | Updated 12:28 pm IST - NEW DELHI:

A partially burnt, headless body of a young woman, whose hands were also chopped off, was found stuffed inside a sack in the Bhalswa Dairy area of North-West Delhi on Saturday.

The victim is yet to be identified.

Locals spotted a sack lying in a vacant plot around 5.30 p.m. with a foot sticking out. When the police reached the spot, they found the headless body.

“It is a murder case and efforts are being made to establish the identity of the victim. It is only after the identity of the deceased is known that the motive behind the gruesome murder can be ascertained and the culprits arrested,” said a senior police officer.

Sources, however, claimed that the burnt pieces of dress similar to those found near the body were also found in a house adjoining the vacant plot.

Young couple missing

A young man and woman who had come to stay on rent in the house a few days ago were found missing following the incident.

The two had reportedly told the locals that they were married.
