A 30-year-old woman was murdered in front of her children by her suspected paramour who later took his own life at Baljeet Nagar in West Delhi on Tuesday.
The incident, which took place at the victim Priyanka Sharma’s house, said police sources, was an outcome of her unwillingness to leave her family and settle down with the accused Rakesh (30).
Ten years ago, Priyanka had married Shipu Sharma, and had introduced Rakesh as Deepak, a distant cousin. Police added that angles other than extra marital affair were also being looked into.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Parmaditya said the call of a shooting was received around 4.30 p.m.
“An injured Priyanka was lying outside the house while Rakesh alias Deepak was at the doorstep with a bullet mark on his temple. Both were rushed to hospital where doctors declared them brought dead,” said Mr. Parmaditya. Priyanka’s brother-in-law said even though his brother had objected to Rakesh’s visits the visits continued.
