The Registrar of Delhi University on Tuesday said serious efforts were being made to fill up various vacant faculty positions. He said the university had received 19,065 applications in response to an advertisement for 930 vacant posts.
Last date
The university said the last date for receiving applications for the position of Assistant Professor was over, but the last date to apply for the posts of Associate Professor and Professor was May 15. DU said vacancies include 378 positions at the Assistant Professor-level, 399 positions at the Associate Professor-level and 153 positions at the Professor-level.
Highest number
The Registrar said the highest number of applications were received from Uttar Pradesh (5,424), followed by Delhi (4,137), Haryana (1,790), Rajasthan (1,131), Bihar (1,082) and West Bengal (1,038). Of the total applications, 369 are from the persons with disabilities category, 708 from the Scheduled Tribes category, 3,100 from the Scheduled Castes category and 3,757 from OBC category. DU said the process of appointment of principals to various colleges has also started.
