Long forgotten, the Lokpal Bill will be tabled in the Delhi Assembly session, beginning on Tuesday.

The Jan Lokpal Bill, which became the issue that led to the Aam Aadmi Party quitting the 49-day coalition government, was put on the backburner as free water and power were priority.

“There were some flaws in the Bill prepared earlier,” said an AAP MLA on the condition of anonymity.

Though it is already advertising about amendments to the Education Act, the AAP will hold discussions in the session on these amendments and try to bring private schools within its ambit.

However, the Question Hour during the Budget session this time will be held only on two days due to delay in issuing the notification for the session.

Delhi Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goel accepted that the delay in issuing the notification would mean lack of time to hold the Question hour. Earlier, one hour on each day of the session was dedicated to the same.

“The Budget went to the Central government, which took some time, and its notification was received by the Assembly on June 17. So we had no time to allot time for star questions.

However, we have allotted two days, for which we have got a list of 67 questions,” Goel said.

While the AAP had in September last slammed the Lieutenant-Governor for increasing the circle rates in Delhi, this time round, the AAP-led government is keen on increasing the circle rates.

“The L-G and the Revenue Department need to tell the people of Delhi what is the reason behind such a steep hike in circle rates,” an AAP statement had stated in September. But sources in the government said that AAP is now in favour of increasing the circle rates “as they want to cut down on black money.”

Delhi Finance Minister, Manish Sisodia, will table the Budget on June 25, while Economic Survey will be released on June 24. Members will discuss the Budget on June 29 and 30. Assembly has allotted June 26 for the private member bills and resolution.
