A 40-year-old man was killed and four others injured in an accident reported from South Delhi early on Monday, police said.
According to police, the accident was reported from Rajokri around 4:30 am on Monday. Ramesh, the victim, was returning with the others to Delhi after attending a marriage in Rajasthan.
The group was travelling in a Wagon-R that collided with a truck.
“As their car was passing Rajokri, the driver failed to steer clear of a truck ahead and rammed into it. The impact was such that Ramesh died on the spot. The driver of the truck fled,” said a police officer.
Passers-by informed the police, following which a team rushed to the spot and took the injured to a hospital. Ramesh was declared dead on arrival, while the others were admitted.
“We have registered a case of causing death due to rash and negligent driving at the Vasant Kunj (South) police station. Investigation and efforts to track down the offending vehicle and its driver, are underway,” the officer added.
