Official asked to appear before court

May 28, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:36 am IST - NEW DELHI:

The Deputy Forest Conservator has been asked to appear before the High Court so that the officer could explain in person as to why permission was being withheld for widening the roads on Rao Tula Ram (RTR) Marg.

A Bench of Chief Justice G Rohini and Justice Rajiv Sahai Endlaw was hearing a public interest litigation that the road widening work by the PWD had been delayed resulting in a traffic mess. The court had asked the PWD earlier to file a reply which it was not fully prepared for on Wednesday, since the counsel said that permission was lacking from the conservation of forests department, but could not fully explain why.
