NSUI protests fuel hike

May 03, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:34 am IST - NEW DELHI:

A day after the Central government hiked fuel prices, the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) held a demonstration demanding an immediate roll-back and expressing concern that the hike shall impact the prices of other commodities.

In a symbolic gesture, students dragged their bikes and scooters to the protest venue at Jantar Mantar, citing their inability to afford fuel at sky-rocketing prices.

Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s promises during his Lok Sabha election campaign, they accused the Government of being insensitive towards the common man and taking a U-turn on the promised ‘achhe din’.

The protest was led by Delhi NSUI president Vikas Chhikara.
