No arrests in Adarsh Nagar robbery-cum-murder case

‘Identity of accused matches with Shalimar Bagh robbers’

The police have failed to make any major breakthrough in a robbery-cum-murder case where a 40-year-old jeweller was shot dead inside his shop in Adarsh Nagar in north-west Delhi on Tuesday.

Hemant Kaushal, who was shot two times in the head, was cremated on Wednesday at Nigam Bodh Ghat.

Gold jewellery worth ₹10 lakh were looted from his shop.

The police, however, said that the identity of the robbers match the ones who robbed a jewellery shop in Shalimar Bagh a few days back. “The modus operandi and appearance of the robbers in both cases are matching,” a police officer said.

Son in shock

The 13-year-old son of the deceased who had witnessed the murder of his father is still in shock.

“He [the son] had gone to the shop to meet his father. He was studying there when the robbers barged into the shop. The robbers had put all the jewellery in a bag and just when they were about to leave, Hemant tried to stop them. He requested the robbers not to take away everything as the shop was the bread and butter of the family,” said a relative.

“The robbers shot him twice and he collapsed on the spot. The child saw his father dying. He has not spoken to anyone since then and is crying continuously,” the relative added.

Hemant is survived by his daughter, son, wife and parents. The servants who worked at the the shop are being questioned.

We have procured CCTV footage of the incident,” added the police officer.
