NGT’s take on Chandni Chowk

June 12, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:34 am IST - NEW DELHI:

The National Green Tribunal has directed Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) to submit a “comprehensive and definite plan” as to how traffic in crowded Chandni Chowk market can be permitted to go on without interfering with commercial activity.

A Bench headed by NGT Chairperson Justice Swatanter Kumar asked CAIT to formulate a plan on the plea of the traders’ body seeking modification of March 16 NGT order which had banned loading and unloading of goods between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. “Have you been to Chandni Chowk. You cannot make traffic immovable and create chaos on the roads. Prepare a workable plan and submit suggestions,” the Bench said while posting the case for June 15.— PTI
