A woman, who runs an NGO, lodged a police complaint against Aam Aadmi Party Minister Satyendra Jain for misbehaving with her on Saturday at his North-West Delhi office.

The activist said that she had gone to Mr. Jain’s office around 9.30 a.m. seeking his help for the residents of Rang Mahal jhuggi , close to Saraswati Vihar, near Pitampura.

Fire outbreak

“A fire had destroyed many homes on Thursday. Since the Minister is the local MLA, he had promised to help. But, the affected families were still sleeping in the open, as of Saturday,” she said.

Mr. Jain, who holds the Health and Public Works Department portfolios, arrived at the office around 10.20 a.m., she added.

“I along with 20 people from the jhuggi asked him to have the debris cleared and to give the affected people permanent shelters,” she said, adding that the residents wanted cement and bricks to re-build their homes.

She followed Mr. Jain into his office. On enquiring when the residents would be given shelter, the Minister replied that the process was on, she said. But on asking for a time-frame, the Minister got agitated, she added.

“The Minister looked at me up and down in an inappropriate way and harassed me. His supporters then pushed me out of the office,” she said.

A senior police official said, “We have received the complaint and are investigating the matter.”
