New traffic plan around High Court from Monday

September 11, 2011 09:35 am | Updated 09:35 am IST - NEW DELHI:

Conceived in the wake of the powerful blast outside the Delhi High Court earlier this week, the new traffic circulation plan to decongest the Sher Shah Road will come into force from Monday.

As per the plan, lawyers and litigants will not be allowed to park their vehicles on the Sher Shah Road. Separate parking lots have been identified for them, from where they can avail of the Delhi Transport Corporation's Park and Ride service to reach the court.

The lawyers will be able to park their vehicles at the NDMC parking area on Kasturba Gandhi Marg and Tilak Marg Radials at India Gate and NSIC parking lot on Mathura Road.

The litigants have been provided space at the India Trade Promotion Organisation parking lot on Bhairon Road.

Those coming to the court in chauffer-driven vehicles will be allowed to alight at the Sher Shah Road , but this will be permitted only as long as it does not congest the road.

The Delhi Police had come in for sharp criticism following the blast for allowing the Sher Shah Road to be encroached on by the vehicles of those coming to the court.
