In an effort to curb dust pollution, the municipal corporations of Delhi have been issuing fines for violation of dust control guidelines issued by the National Green Tribunal.

In October, the North Corporation issued 154 challans for violation of NGT guidelines on dust control, leading to a collection of about ₹2.67 crore.
The South Delhi Municipal Corporation collected around ₹45 lakh in the same period. This includes, ₹5 lakh charged to Don Bosco School in Sukhdev Vihar, which was found to be violating various guidelines such as uncovered construction material, lack of wind breaking walls around the construction site, and workers not being given masks. The SDMC has also asked Larsen & Turbo to stop construction of a tunnel at Pragati Maidan for violating NGT guidelines.
The North Corporation has deployed six tankers as well as 104 tempos, one for each ward, to carry out water sprinkling of roads.
Apart from this, 12 mechanical sweepers are cleaning 40 km of road daily, it said in a statement.
EDMC measures
The East Delhi Municipal Corporation said that 40 tankers were undertaking water sprinkling of roads under its jurisdiction and that the number would be doubled in four months.
