NDMC invokes ESMA against Hindu Rao staff

May 15, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:34 am IST - New Delhi:

The North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) on Thursday invoked the Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA) against the doctors and other employees of its Hindu Rao Hospital, who are reportedly planning to go on mass casual leave on Friday.

In a statement released on Thursday evening, the corporation claimed it has “already released their salaries up to March”.

“And, if they still go on a strike, it will be a contempt of court...The NDMC has invoked ESMA against them. They are liable for penal action and their salary for cessation of work shall be deducted accordingly,” the civic body added.
