Naidu condemns killing of teenager

‘No one can take law into their hands’

Condemning the killing of a Muslim teen and attack on his two brothers on a Delhi-Mathura local train, Union Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu on Wednesday sought action against the culprits.

Junaid was stabbed to death while his brothers Hasib and Shakir were injured and abused by a mob between Okhla and Ballabgarh stations last week. One accused has been arrested.

“Any incident of such nature is condemnable. It is brutal, atrocious. It is not acceptable at all. People who are responsible should be identified and dealt [with] very firmly,” Mr. Naidu told journalists.

‘Totally wrong’

Calling what happened to Junaid as “totally wrong”, the Union Information and Broadcasting Minister said no one can “take [the] law into their hands whatever may be the reason”.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had on Tuesday promised to take action against the culprits.
