Murder over car damage

October 28, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:33 am IST - New Delhi:

An argument over shattered window panes of a car led to a man stabbing an 18-year-old youth to death in North-West Delhi’s Jahangirpuri.

The accused Akash, 24, continues to be on the run even as police have constituted a team to nab him. Police said a background check on Akash has revealed that he has a criminal background.

The victim has been identified as Monu, a resident of Jahangirpuri. His body was found sandwiched between two cycle-rickshaws at a three-wheeler parking lot in the area on Tuesday morning.

Local investigation led police to identify the accused and learn of the motive behind the crime. “The murder took place after Akash found his parked car’s window panes shattered. He began blaming some persons nearby upon which Monu retaliated,” said Vijay Singh, DCP (North-West).

Monu apparently responded to the allegations with a volley of abuses. The verbal altercation soon turned into a scuffle during which Akash allegedly pulled out a knife and repeatedly stabbed Monu in his hip and back. The victim possibly bled to death after which Akash dumped his body amidst some parked rickshaws and fled from the spot.
