: A 22-year-old man and his mother were arrested for the murder of a 42-year-old Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus driver in West Delhi on Sunday.

Vijay Kumar, a biker who used his helmet and a fire extinguisher to beat Ashok Kumar to death, was arrested from a relative’s residence in Haryana late on Sunday night.

On Monday, the police apprehended and booked Roshini, mother of the accused, for instigating her son during the episode. A city court later sent the mother-son duo to 14 days’ judicial custody.

After his arrest from his maternal uncle’s residence at Jhajjar in Hayana, Vijay told the police that he fled home after the driver fell unconscious.

The bus conductor on whose statement a case has been registered told the police that Vijay’s mother had kept repeating that the driver must be taught a lesson for meddling with residents of Mundka village.
