Tension erupted in the Chawri Bazaar area of Central Delhi late on Sunday night after a mob vandalised a temple.

Police said a PCR call was received at 11.30 regarding a fight between two families in the Chawri Bazaar area over parking of a two wheeler outside their house. Before police reached the spot, scores of supporters from both sides gathered.

"We reached the spot and pacified the agitated mob and brought both the parties to Hauz Qazi police station for further action in the case," said Mandeep Singh Randhawa, DCP (central).

Later, police was informed that a mob again went to the area and vandalised a temple.

"We have registered a case into the matter and obtained CCTV footage to identify miscreants who tried to harm communal peace in the area," said the DCP.

He added that reserve police have been deployed in the area.
