A loan of ₹50,000 from his wife to install CCTV cameras in his constituency two years ago was waived after she saw that the Delhi government had approved a proposal to install 1.4 lakh cameras in the city, Mundka MLA Sukhvir Singh said on Friday.
After Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced that the Cabinet had approved the proposal, Mr. Singh told the Delhi Assembly that he had borrowed money from his wife to install two cameras in the constituency as the government’s proposal was pending at that time. He said he hoped she would waive the loan.
The MLA’s wife, Roshni Devi, was present in the gallery as she had come to attend another event at the Assembly earlier in the day. Speaking outside the House, she said she had forgiven the debt.
Mr. Singh added that if the AAP government was spending ₹571 crore on its project, his wife’s contribution was to waive the loan to him. He claimed the two cameras had helped solve many criminal cases in the area.
