Was allegedly kidnapped from Delhi on Thursday

The 38-year-old Right To Information activist and florist Shiv Kumar Tiwari, who was allegedly kidnapped by three persons at Ghazipur Mandi here this past Thursday, was traced to Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday night. He said the kidnappers robbed him of a gold chain, a ring, some cash and a mobile phone.

Mr. Tiwari, who had carried out a sensational sting operation on New Delhi Municipal Council officials and Delhi Police personnel for allegedly taking bribes, leading to several arrests, and had also filed a complaint in the MCD “ghost employees” case, went missing after he reached Ghazipur to buy flowers around 5-15 a.m. on Thursday.

“Soon after I reached the place, a boy approached me saying two persons sitting in an Innova car wanted to meet me. As I approached them, they asked me to get into the car and initiated a conversation, expressing interest in doing business with me. I had never seen them earlier,” said Mr. Tiwari, owner of “Tiwari Flower.com” on Baba Kharak Singh Marg in Connaught Place.

According to him, the duo suddenly put a cloth on his face after which he lost consciousness. “They tied up my hands and blindfolded me. While some kidnappers were planning to eliminate me, their accomplices opposed the idea. I later heard them discussing that the incident was being reported in the media,” said Mr. Tiwari.

The kidnappers finally dumped the victim along an under-construction road, about three-km from Muzaffarnagar. “I woke up as I felt the chill in the air. I started walking and reached an eatery late at night. I narrated the incident to the eatery owner, who helped me call up my brother. Subsequently, Delhi Police were informed,” he added.

The victim's brother Aditya said he rang up the Police Control Room, following which two police personnel from the local police station accompanied him to Muzaffarnagar.

“I have not raised suspicion on anyone, but have given the description of the kidnappers to the police. I could not recall the entire registration number of the vehicle used to kidnap me,” said Mr. Tiwari, adding that he would get his statement recorded in the court.
