Minors sustain burns while playing

Two minors sustained burns after they allegedly after they came in contact with a high-tension wire while they were playing near a DDA park at east Delhi’s Mandawali area, police said Sunday.

The incident happened on January 12, they added.

The children, while playing in a DDA park, hurled a stone after wrapping it in a polythene with a thread towards the high-tension wire which resulted in short circuit, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Pankaj Singh.

A neighbour, who witnessed the incident, informed the police, after which the victims were rushed to Safdarjung Hospital. They are undergoing treatment at the hospital, he said.

One of the children, aged 12, sustained 40% burns, while the other, also 12, sustained minor injuries, he added.

A case has been registered against unknown person in connection with the matter, said the police. They added that further probe is under way.
