A 15-year-old boy is suspected to have died of electrocution in a hotel in south-east Delhi’s Pul Prahaladpur on Sunday, the police said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-East) Chinmoy Biswal said the deceased from Bihar was studying in a boarding school in Dehradun. He had come to Delhi for shooting championship at Karni Singh Shooting Range.

On Sunday at 12.30 p.m., the police received a PCR call regarding a boy lying unconscious in an OYO property in Pul Prahaladpur. On reaching the spot, the officers rushed him to a private hospital where he was declared brought dead.

During inquiry, it was revealed that six boys and their coach had come from Dehradun on October 9 for the tournament and while four boys had left, the deceased, another boy and their coach stayed back.

“On Sunday, the deceased had gone for bath when the other boy heard him shouting from inside the washroom after which he alerted the hotel staff. They entered the bathroom from the window and found the boy unconscious,” Mr. Biswal said.

He is suspected to have died of an electric shock from appliances in the bathroom, the police said. “A case on charges of causing death by negligence has been registered and the post-mortem has been conducted,” the officer added.
