The police on Wednesday apprehended a 16-year-old boy for allegedly kidnapping and sexually harassing a 15-year-old schoolmate. The matter was reported by the victim’s father on Tuesday, a day after she returned home since she went missing on October 9.
The police said the victim lives with her family in Sector 45 and is a student of Class X. The boy studies in Class XII and both had gone missing on October 9.
Sector 39 police station SHO Amit Kumar Singh said the victim’s father alleged that the accused lured the girl into travelling with him to his home town in Bihar, where he harassed her sexually.
However, the police said they had not received any missing complaint till a week after the teenagers went missing.
“Taking cognizance of the complaint, we sent the girl for a medical examination. It confirmed rape. After this, the accused was booked under Sections 376 [rape] and 366 [abducting a woman to compel her for marriage], along with provisions under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act of the Indian Penal Code,” Mr. Singh added.
The police apprehended the accused from his residence on Wednesday. The boy claimed they had eloped as they wanted to get married in his home town. The girl, in her statement given on Wednesday, agreed that she was raped.
