Christian Michel, alleged middleman in the ₹3,600 crore AgustaWestland VVIP chopper deal, on Wednesday moved a Delhi court seeking bail in the corruption and money laundering cases lodged by the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate.
Issuing notices to the two probe agencies, Special Judge Arvind Kumar asked them to file replies to the plea by August 19, the next date of hearing.
The judge had in April dismissed his application for interim bail in both cases, saying that “the accused has close links with many influential persons and may tamper with evidence and also abscond.”
He had sought bail for seven days to celebrate Easter, for a medical check-up at a private hospital and legal interviews with his lawyers for making preparation for filing a regular bail.
Former AgustaWestland and Finmeccanica directors Giuseppe Orsi and Bruno Spagnolini, former Air Force chief S.P. Tyagi and others are also accused in the two cases.
