July 04, 2019 01:30 am | Updated 01:30 am IST - New Delhi

The Central Zoo Authority (CZA) will discuss in its July-end board meeting about the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change’s letter to bring the Delhi zoo under the former’s administrative control.

The National Zoological Park, locally known as Delhi zoo, is currently under the administrative control of the MoEF&CC. Earlier this month, the MoEF&CC had written to the CZA, asking it to bring the zoo under its control. “We have received the letter and we will put it before a technical committee in the next 15 days. It will be taken up in a board meeting of the CZA which will be chaired by Minister, MoEF&CC towards the end of this month,” CZA member secretary Anup Nayak said.

Zoo director Renu Singh said that they are yet to receive any official information about the transfer, either from the Ministry or from the CZA.
