Traffic police inspector Anil Yadav said the leakage started around 6 a.m.
Later, due to high pressure water, the pipeline burst and the road caved in.
Traffic police diverted vehicles towards Crossings Republic at 8 a.m., but it could not resolvetraffic congestion during peak hours.
A team of National Highway Authorities of India (NHAI) and Public Works Department (PWD) reached the spot and started the restoration work on the damaged road.
“By 4 p.m., light vehicles and roadways buses were permitted to move through the repaired stretch of road except heavy-loaded trucks,” the inspector said.
After the incident, water supply was stopped from Ganga water treatment plant at Pratap Vihar due to which water supply in Noida and trans Hindon area (Sahibabad) was affected.
