Manto morning show cancelled due to technical issue: PVR

Following reports of cancellation of Manto screening, PVR Cinemas maintained that the film is being screened across the country.

Manto has released and is playing within all PVR cinemas across India. The morning show was cancelled due to certain technical issues and nothing else. It was only a miscommunication that led people to believe that all shows have been cancelled,” said a spokesperson with the film entertainment company. The clarification came following reports that screening of the film, which was scheduled to release on Friday, was called off across the company’s theatres due to “pressure from higher authorities”.

Soon after reports of cancellation emerged, Manto director Nandita Das tweeted: “Hugely disappointed...6 years of work and many people’s collective intent and commitment was to find its culmination this morning. Am assured by @viacom18movies it will be fixed at noon today. Pls let us know if it hasn’t been. Spreading #Mantoiyat will not stop! [sic]”
