Man wanted in rape case nabbed after three years

A man wanted in a rape case for the past three years was arrested on Sunday in Gurugram, the police said.

Rahul Victor, who works as a driver, was nabbed from Sikanderpur, they added. On February 10, 2016, a woman had lodged a complaint alleging that Victor, an acquaintance, had offered her a laced drink. After she lost consciousness, he allegedly raped her and filmed the act, the police said. She had said that he sexually exploited her several times by threatening to share the photographs and video clips on social media, said DCP (South) Vijay Kumar. A case was registered at Kotla Mubarakpur police station in 2016. Later, several Facebook accounts in the name of Rahul Victor were surveyed to trace his whereabouts. During this, the woman identified the accused in one photograph, the DCP said.

A restaurant’s phone number was visible in the photo following which a team went there and learnt that Victor worked there as a delivery boy in 2017, the officer said, adding that further investigations led to his arrest.
