A 37-year-old man was beaten to death and three persons were injured in southeast Delhi’s Tughlakabad on Friday after an alleged clash over some land dispute. Two persons have been arrested in the case, said the police.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East) Chinmoy Biswal said that the deceased was identified as Jitender alias Jeetu. The accused are Kartar (43) and Yogesh (35).

The police said that they received a call about a fight at 6.35 p.m. When a team reached the spot, they were told that a few people had been rushed to AIIMS.

Preliminary probe revealed that Jitender, Surinder (38), Rajbir (56) and Sandeep (56) had a long-running dispute with Kartar and his family over a piece of land in Tughlakabad. “Kartar’s brother Subhash is a known land-grabber and also has a case registered against him,” Mr. Biswal said.

The victims allegedly told the police that Kartar, Subhash, Kale, Jagat and a few others called them at the disputed plot and started thrashing them with sticks and rods. The police have registered a case on charges of murder, attempt to murder and common intention.
