A 29-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death by his nephews after a drunken brawl in the early hours of Friday in south Delhi’s Neb Sarai. One accused has been arrested, the police said.

DCP (South) Romil Baaniya said the victim has been identified as Sikander, a resident of JJ Camp in Tigri. The accused have been identified as his nephews Rakesh and Cheenu, who live in the same area.

Drunken brawl

The police said the victim and the accused used to drink together every night and often fought over petty issues. All three were drinking on Thursday night, during which an argument broke out between them. In a fit of rage, the nephews attacked Sikander in front of his wife Jyoti.

The police control room received a call around 1 a.m. on Friday. When the police reached the spot, they learnt that Sikander had been taken to a hospital. “There was a pool of blood at the spot. A crime team was called and the scene was inspected,” Mr Baaniya said.

The doctors at the hospital said Sikander was severely injured and unfit for statement. He succumbed to injuries around 6 a.m, the police said.

Mr. Baaniya said a case under IPC Section 302 (punishment for murder) has been registered and Cheenu has been arrested. “Rakesh is absconding and teams are looking for him,” he said.
