A 40-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint on Wednesday in east Delhi’s Shahdara. The six accused are at large.

The incident took place around 9 p.m. when Anil Bansal, the owner of a garment shop in Gandhi Nagar, was returning home in his car. He told the police that when he reached the Shahdara flyover, six masked men on three bikes forced him to part with his bag containing ₹7 lakh.

But before he realised what was happening, the accused came in front of his car and forced him to stop.

“He said he rolled up his car windows but they broke one of them at the back seat and fired a shot in the air. They told him that if he didn’t part with his belongings there would be dire consequences,” said a senior police officer.

CCTV footage

The accused then took out the bag with ₹7 lakh from his car and fled before Mr. Bansal could alert others. The victim then called the police after which an FIR was registered against the accused. “The victim is unhurt. We suspect that the accused were aware of the money in his car. We are trying to obtain CCTV footage to ascertain the identity of the accused and the route they took,” said the officer.
