A 45-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly murdering a woman at a guest house in Jama Masjid area on Monday. The victim and the accused had checked in as husband and wife in the guest house and he absconded after murdering her, said the police. Earlier, in the early hours of October 19, the police received a call about the murder of a woman in Amreena Guest House. The woman was later identified as Kaushlaya Devi (40).Preliminary investigations revealed that one Maqbool along with deceased came to guest house the same day and had introduced himself as husband and wife while asking for a room.

“He was asked for an ID proof. Maqbool produced his Aadhar card but did not produce the ID proof of his wife and told that the same will be submitted by him in due course. Around 2 p.m., Maqbool left alone from the guest house but did not turn up. Later on, on suspicion, the manager checked the room and found that the lady was lying on the bed and tongue of the lady was protruding,” said the officer.

During investigation, it was revealed that Maqbool had relations with the deceased since long and both were residing in the same premises.
