A 23-year-old man was arrested for murdering the husband of the woman with whom he was in an illicit relationship in southwest Delhi, the police said.
RA Sanjeev, DCP (southwest) said Sachin, a graduate currently employed as a marketing supervisor, had killed one Manoj, after getting caught in a compromising position with his victim’s wife.
“His body was recovered on October 1 following which his family identified him and investigation began only to reveal that Sachin was in touch with the victim’s wife in a somewhat irregular manner which triggered suspicion,” Mr. Sanjeev said.
According to the police, Sachin was examined at length before he broke down and admitted to the crime.
He is alleged to have told the police that Sachin had gotten Manoj, who was an alcoholic, drunk and lulled to sleep on the night of the murder before proceeding to his wife’s room where the latter, after waking up, found them in a compromising position and had a fit of rage.
“Sachin and Manoj’s wife murdered him by assaulting him with a brick before strangling him to death and dumping his body on the main road near the Narayan Ashram in Samalka to make it look like an accident,” Mr. Sanjeev added.
