Man murdered by wife, paramour

June 28, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:34 am IST - NEW DELHI:

A 35-year-old man was strangled by his wife and her paramour after he was drunk. The suspects tried to pass off the murder as a natural death, but confessed to their crime during questioning, the police said on Saturday.

Gulista (26) and her 24-year-old paramour Rizwan have been arrested. They told the police that they decided to eliminate Gulista’s husband Salim after he suspected her of being in an extramarital affair with Rizwan.

Gulista had been married to Salim when she was only 12 years old. The man who mostly stayed under the influence of drugs would allegedly beat her often. “The beating had increased ever since the woman gave birth to a daughter in January this year,” said Ajay Kumar, DCP (East). The police found Salim dead at his house in New Ashok Nagar on Thursday morning.

Gulista and Rizwan, who were at the spot, said they found Salim unresponsive when they tried to wake him.

Upon learning from Salim’s father that Gulista and Rizwan were having an affair, the police questioned them upon which they confessed to their involvement in the murder.
