Police launch manhunt for accused; two cases registered

A 28-year-old man who allegedly trespassed onto a house in outer Delhi’s Aman Vihar to steal valuables was lynched on Friday morning, the police said.

A case has been registered and efforts are on to identify the accused, they said. No arrests were made till late on Friday. The police control room received a call at 7.30 a.m. The caller told the Aman Vihar police station staff that a group was beating a man caught stealing. A team reached the spot and found Laxmi Vihar resident Rajesh Singh lying in an unconscious state.

Declared brought dead

The victim was rushed to a hospital, where he was declared brought dead. Initial enquiry revealed that Rajesh was caught trespassing onto the house of one Mahender, who lives in Laxmi Vihar’s Prem Nagar-III, the police said.

DCP (Outer) Seju P. Kuruvilla said they have registered two cases. “A case of house theft has been registered against Rajesh on a statement by Mahender. Another case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder has been registered against the unknown people who allegedly beat Rajesh to death,” he said.
