A 20-year-old man was arrested for allegedly killing his stepfather on Wednesday in Dwarka, the police said on Thursday.

Yogender killed 27-year-old Devender as he suspected him of having bad intentions towards his 15-year-old sister, they said.

The 45-year-old mother of the accused started living with Devender a year after her husband passed away in 2011. “A quarrel broke out between Yogender and Devender over some issue. It soon turned violent when the accused took out a knife and attacked his Devender,” the officer said.

Calls police, confesses

After the murder, Yogender called the police and confessed to the crime. Following this, he was taken into custody.

The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead, the officer said.

The victim from Aligarh was staying at Najafgarh, the police said, adding that investigation is under way.
