A 55-year-old man was allegedly murdered by his 28-year-old son following a drunken argument in outer Delhi’s Sultanpuri on Tuesday night, the police said on Wednesday.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) Rajinder Singh Sagar said Laxman, a labourer, was thrashed to death by his son Kapil, a gas cylinder supplier.

“A quarrel broke out between them after they got drunk,” Mr. Sagar said.

The police said Kapil fled after beating his father. Laxman was taken to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital by the other family members but later succumbed to injuries. The police nabbed Kapil from the area early on Wednesday morning.

“A case under Section 302 [punishment for murder] of the Indian Penal Code has been registered,” Mr. Sagar said.
