Man killed by wife, brother in Daryaganj

Accused wanted to live together: cops

A woman and her brother-in-law have been arrested for allegedly killing her husband in Central Delhi’s Daryaganj, the police said on Friday. The accused wanted to eliminate the victim as they wanted to stay together, they said.

DCP (Central) Mandeep Singh Randhawa said the accused — Anita (30) and Vijay (28) — have been arrested for killing Rajesh. They received a call on August 23 regarding a decomposed body found under Geeta Colony flyover.

“The post-mortem revealed that he died of asphyxiation due to application of pressure on the neck. A murder case was registered,” Mr. Randhawa said. On scanning Rajesh’s call details, it was found that a number used to frequently call him. It was registered in his name but was used by his wife, Anita. During interrogation, Anita allegedly told police that Rajesh quarreled with her and left for his village in Uttar Pradesh. Then his other family members were questioned, the police added. “There were discrepancies in the versions of his wife and other family members. We then suspected the involvement of Vijay. After this, the accused duo confessed their involvement,” the DCP said. Vijay was married five years ago and has two daughters but his wife left him two years ago. Then, he married Anita about a year ago, the police said. But, Anita and Vijay got close to each other and Rajesh did not approve the relationship. “On August 19, Vijay went to New Delhi Railway Station after fighting with Anita. She called him and asked him to wait. After this, the accused took him to an abandoned place and strangulated him,” Mr. Randhawa said.
