A 32-year-old man was arrested for allegedly stealing a Mauritian woman’s handbag while she was travelling in the Delhi Metro, the police said on Wednesday. Ajay Kumar, a resident of Sant Nagar, had on February 16 stolen Misrah Banon Osman’s bag while she was on her way to Netaji Subhash Place from Rajouri Garden.

The online complaint filed by Ms. Osman at Netaji Subhash Place Metro police station stated that her bag had $3,000 and some Indian currency notes besides other articles.

The CCTV footage of the metro stations were analysed and a person carrying a ladies bag was spotted at Azadpur metro station, Dinesh Gupta, DCP (Metro) said. On Tuesday, a trap was laid at Bhikaji Cama Place metro station and the accused was nabbed, he said. All the stolen items have been recovered from his possession.
