A 26-year-old M.Phil student was allegedly molested in a moving bus by a man in east Delhi’s Shakarpur. The incident happened on Wednesday when the woman was heading towards her home in Ghazipur after tuition classes.

Mohit (28), a resident of Mandawali, was arrested by the police for allegedly molesting the student.

The police said that Mohit allegedly tried to touch the woman inappropriately and when she ignored him and changed her seat, he followed her and again tried to touch her. He got irked when she resisted his attempts and pushed him away. An angry Mohit slapped the woman and twisted her arm. The woman then shouted for help. Hearing her cries, other passengers came to her rescue.

“Co-passengers intervened and caught hold of the accused following which the woman made a PCR call. Police officials rushed to the spot and he was taken to Shakarpur police station. Based on a complaint filed by the woman, an FIR was registered against the accused,” said a police officer.

“The accused has been arrested under relevant sections of the IPC. Probe is on,” added the officer.
