Man commits suicide, blames wife, in-laws in note

A 26-year-old man allegedly committed suicide in east Delhi’s Mandawali on Wednesday night. A suicide note given to the police by his family stated that he was ending his life because of his wife and his in-laws.

Vikas, a resident of Chander Vihar, allegedly jumped in front of a moving train around 10 p.m. His family traced him at the rail tracks, said the police.

Following this, he was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared brought dead. The family then submitted a note, allegedly written by Vikas, note to the police wherein he blamed his wife and in-laws for troubling him ever since he got married in October 2017.

The deceased also submitted a letter at Madhu Vihar police station on February 13 in which stated that his wife, who allegedly fought with him over petty issues, was threatening to commit suicide and implicate him in a false dowry case, the police said.

He also wrote that his wife’s parents and brother had come to his house and fought with him saying they will press dowry charges against him if he fails to give them money.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Railways) Parwaiz Ahmad said the police are investigating whether the letters submitted to the police were written by Vikas.

“Action will be taken if the handwriting in the letter matches with Vikas’s handwriting,” he said.
