A 27-year-old man, who was allegedly beaten over suspicion of child lifting on September 3, died on Saturday, the police said.
The incident happened on September 3 when Govind from Ashok Vihar was allegedly beaten up by three men over suspicion of lifting a child. A case was then registered under relevant sections. The accused — Yashwant Kumar (35), Rakesh Yadav (22) and Phool Chand (69) — all from Jailerwala Bagh were arrested the next day, the police said.
‘Snatch his belongings’
Govind allegedly told the police that when he was roaming near his house, two persons came and tried to snatch his belongings. When he resisted and started running, he knocked on the doors of nearby houses for help and entered one Kumar’s residence. Kumar thought that he was a child lifter and thrashed him along with Yadav and Chand. The police said Govind was discharged after treatment but later complained of uneasiness after which he was admitted again.
After post-mortem, the body was handed over to his family, the police added.
