A day after a 17-year-old girl was found dead at her friend’s house in north-west Delhi’s Shalimar Bagh, a 22-year-old man was apprehended from Bihar’s Darbhanga, the police said on Sunday.
A police officer said that the prime suspect, who was on the run, has been held. He has been identified as Sunny. He was a wielder by profession and was employed at a shop in Shalimar Bagh. He lived at a rented accommodation for the past one year. He was last seen with the girl. They had frequent conversations over phone before she was reported missing from her house.
“The accused had called the girl and asked her to meet him. He stabbed her multiple times in the room and locked it from outside. He then went to New Delhi railway station and boarded a train to Darbhanga,” he said.
He was traced with the help of technical surveillance. A police team was sent to Darbhanga and Sunny was held from his village.
“He had a fight with the girl before he killed her. The case is under investigation. The accused is on the way to Delhi. He will be questioned after he reaches on Monday,” a police officer added.
